Introducing my new baby: Tokyobike Classic Sport (in Ivory Matte, which in reality looks more like Light Grey).
It’s just a city bike, so it’s lightweight and cute (I had a mountain bike many years ago, and I know for sure that this option suits me better). No need to be dressed in lycra from head to toe, but it gives an opportunity to add a personal touch. Lots of touches, actually. Just like with my Traveler’s Notebook, which has been going through a continuous series of changes over the past ten years.
Very promising, and of course I like it.
A long process of adaptation and customisation awaits it (and a long interesting journey full of adventures, too; at least, I hope), at the moment the original parts have been replaced with Panaracer Pasela 26 x 1.5 tyres (since they need fenders wider than Tokyobike, shiny Berthoud were installed) and MKS Sylvan Stream pedals.
The bullet lights from Rindow Bikes, Tanaka bottle cage and Crane E-Ne bell (all in black colour) were added. Also it is decorated with Blue Lug Triangle reflector.
Blue Lug Mini reflector and Blue Lug Bike Pocket are on their way from France, and Samurai Bar Tape handlebar tape in Arc-en-ciel waits for me to get the courage to wrap something around the bike frame (and I also have Tarugata grips, but that’s on hold until a more significant customisation stage).
The name of my bike is Shōwa, because it happened that it was ready, and I picked it up on Shōwa Day. A long and complex (and controversial) period of history, but at least interesting (one of the most), so I’m looking forward to our future together with this bike (or, as it was called by its seller, a piece of beauty). In any case, even those unfamiliar with the history, when they hear this name, think it goes well with this bike. So let it be so.
